Thank you to all who contributed to our COVID-19 Emergency Fund! Because of your kindness and generosity, we were able to assist more than half of the eligible families who applied for relief, providing $245,054.59 in relief to 608 families! This has given hope to IMS parents like Jacqueline Moore, who didn’t know how she would be able to afford to continue to send her child to Holy Cross.
Thank you to Jacqueline for sharing her story with us:
“My name is Jacqueline Moore and I have had two children attend Holy Cross Catholic School, Independence Mission School. One of my children has moved on to high school at another Catholic school. The reason I have made the choice for my children to attend these schools is because of the doctrine the school has set for my children. I have struggled with tuition through the many years that my children have attended, but have never felt that I could not push the budget to continue with their education in Catholic school, however this pandemic began to give me no hope. I did not know how I was going to come up with the money to pay for my children to stay home and distance learn and pay the tuition to ensure that they would able to return the next year. I don’t know if this letter reaches people with children, but if it does you are well aware of how much they eat and run up the cost of your household bills. All that being said, I need to express to IMS a letter of gratitude for extending your family into my home. I cannot thank you enough for finding funding to aid my family. The largest stress for me was whether or not my daughter would be able to continue in her extended home. I checked every day to see if I received a letter about the assistance that might come for my family and I reached out to Mrs. Haynes to see if she had heard anything. I knew that if I was blessed with this assistance, it would take some of the nervousness out of my everyday. My life is led by ensuring that I give my children every opportunity that I didn’t have and on the day I received that email I screamed and then called other families in my same situation to let them know my children’s school supports their families. Thank you for understanding and for being committing to the health, well-being and education of our children!”
We are so blessed to have been able to help so many of our families with this tuition relief and we are continuing to explore ways to help more families for the upcoming school year.
