Dan Tahaney joined the IMS network last month as our new Director of Literacy. Dan has extensive experience as an elementary school principal in Philadelphia and already is well-acquainted with our schools from his time working at Catapult as their Instructional Program Supervisor, of which he says, “In my role at Catapult, I spent a lot of time in the IMS schools and I got to know the culture and the people and I was really impressed.” In fact, he was so impressed that he wanted to join our IMS family!

As part of the IMS Academic team, Dan will be leading our literacy initiative which features the implementation of a new ELA curriculum across the entire IMS network. Not only will standardizing all schools on the Expeditionary Learning (EL) curriculum provide a high-level, common core standards-aligned ELA program to our students (which will ensure they are well prepared for success in the very best high schools), it will also help our schools to be more productive and efficient in working together as a network.

In his role, Dan will also be providing coaching and professional development to leaders and staff, and working closely with our implementation partner, SchoolKit Group, the organization that helped us to successfully implement our Eureka Math curriculum. Additionally, Dan will be providing support and coaching to St. Malachy, St. Rose of Lima, St. Frances Cabrini and St. Gabriel as their School Supervisor.

Please join us in welcoming Dan to the IMS network!
