Summer learning programs on weekday mornings are offered at all 14 Independence Mission Schools through our partnership with Catapult.
Students receive targeted instruction in math, reading, and STEM, building on the skills they’ve acquired and putting them in the best possible position for school success in the fall.
This summer, St. Malachy Catholic School will also offer an afternoon enrichment program focused on fun! With funding from the Horner Foundation and The Friends of St. Malachy, the school has teamed up with St. Malachy Out of School Time to provide a variety of activities that enable students to try new things and perhaps spark a new passion.
St. Malachy Principal Steve Janczewski says, “When the students have something that they love to look forward to in the afternoon, such as basketball, theater, music or art, it makes the whole program feel more engaging. They are excited to come to school in the morning and have a better overall experience.”
Activities include basketball through Philadelphia Youth Basketball, choir through Sister Cities, dance through Dancing Classrooms, violin through Temple University’s string program, and coding through the Temple Police Department.
We are hopeful to add new partners this summer, including WHYY Media Lab, Vetri Cooking Program, Clay Mobile, Mad Science, and Girl Scouts, among others.
IMS is grateful to all our partners for making this possible!
