We are thrilled to share that Independence Mission Schools was just named a 2025 $1,000,000 Yass Prize Contender!

Amongst thousands of applications from across the country, we are one of just 23 educational institutions to have earned this distinction.

This is a testament to not only the mission of our organization, but our forward-looking vision.

What is the Yass Prize?

Powered by The Center for Education Reform, The Yass Prize is viewed as the “Pulitzer for Education Innovation” – a program devoted to identifying and elevating the next generation of education changemakers. Founders Janine and Jeff Yass aim to empower organizations that give students not only education, but also dignity, value, and a sense of family.

What Happens Next?

All Yass Prize Contenders will participate in a two-part, three-week accelerator. The first two weeks are virtual; the third is in-person. During the in-person week, we will learn from the best, the boldest, and the brightest minds in business, education innovation, and policy to understand in greater depth the intersection between education, business, and sustainability. That week will culminate with a pitch event at which the strongest, most compelling presentation of the 23 contenders will take home the $1,000,000 Yass Prize.

Needless to say, we are proud of this accomplishment, grateful for the opportunity and excited to compete for a prize that would have a tremendous impact on our network of schools!

Stay tuned for more!
